How to make a simple support sling for your dog’s hind end.

In this video I demonstrate two simple  slings to help you support your dog’s hind end after a surgery on a hind leg or an injury to a hind leg. Where we use this most commonly is after an anterior cruciate surgery. For the first 3-5 days a dog will hardly use the leg recovering from surgery. This puts all the dog’s weight on the good leg. Not only does using a sling on stairs or slippery surfaces help prevent injury to the surgical procedure but it protects the good leg which is having to carry more weight than normal. It is for this reason that statistics show that many dogs who have injured a cruciate ligament on one leg will often injure the cruciate ligament on the other leg. A simple sling can help prevent this. Hope this helps.
